Nebraska standout defender Ty Robinson named third-team All-Big Ten
Ty Robinson has enjoyed his finest season as a Nebraska football player, and Big Ten coaches and media recognized it.
Robinson on Tuesday was named to the third-team defense of the All-Big Ten teams announced by the league on BTN.
A native of Gilbert, Arizona, the 6-foot-6, 310-pound Robinson this season leads Nebraska with six sacks, 11 tackles for loss and six quarterback hurries. He has 33 tackles overall.
He kept improving as the season progressed, said Tony White, who spent the past two seasons as Nebraska’s defensive coordinator before taking the same job Monday at Florida State.
“He was playing good last year early on, then toward the end of last year you were like, ‘Wow, this guy could be really good,'” White said recently. “Now, we fast forward to this year. He starts out the year and he’s playing really good.

“It’s really cool because you see the growth. You see him believing. You see him knowing. You see him taking more of a leadership role. You see him coaching the guys on the sideline. That’s fun to watch and fun to watch him maximize his potential.”
