The Big Ten announced the 2025 Big Ten volleyball opponents on Thursday. Nebraska Volleyball and the other 17 conference teams will learn the date/time of the games later but learn their opponents and match locations.

The Huskers will face Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State, home and away. Competitive balance, geography, and rivalries determine each team’s home/away opponents.

Volleyball fans will have two rematches by the 2024 Big Ten Co-Champions – Nebraska and Penn State.

A difficult road schedule

The Huskers’ road schedule is much more difficult than its home schedule. They have two ranked home games, including Oregon, which finished the 2024 season ranked No. 10. The Ducks have a new head coach and a very different roster.

As for its road opponents, Penn State (1), Wisconsin (7), Minnesota (18), Purdue (9) and USC (24) finished the 2024 season ranked.

The Big Ten typically schedules matches in nearby states close together to help with travel. There will be difficult back-to-back matches.

This schedule and the Big Ten will test Dani Busboom Kelly greatly in her first season as Nebraska’s head coach. While at Louisville for eight years, the Cardinals won four ACC championships. Nebraska volleyball fans have high expectations for conference and national championships. As always, the Big Ten makes both extremely difficult.
