Nebraska volleyball gets first 2024 commitment from Kansas outside hitter Skyler Pierce

Husker volleyball earned its first commitment for the class of 2024 on Sunday as Olathe (Kansas) Northwest outside hitter Skyler Pierce announced on Twitter that she is verbally committing to Nebraska.
The 6-foot-1 outside hitter is the No. 1 player on Prep Dig and the ninth-ranked player in the country by PrepVolleyball in the class of 2024.
As a sophomore, Pierce had 425 total kills in 99 sets, averaging 4.3 kills per set and hit .254. She hit .312 as a freshman with an average of 4.9 kills per set, according to MaxPreps. Pierce averaged 0.4 aces, 0.6 blocks and 3.5 digs per set.
Pierce plays club volleyball for Dynasty on its 16 Black team, the No. 1 ranked club team in the age group in the nation by PrepVolleyball.
Nebraska and college coaches across the country were able to start contacting class of 2024 student-athletes on June 15.

Pierce attended the Huskers Dream Camp in 2021 and was able to get a feel for the program, its coaching style and the other players at the camp.
“I’d like to announce my verbal commitment to Nebraska,” she said on Twitter. “I’m so grateful for Coach (John) Cook, Coach (Jaylen) Reyes and Coach (Kelly) Hunter for this opportunity.
“Thank you to my family, my coaches and my teammates along the way for pushing me to be the person and athlete I am today. I am so blessed for the journey God has provided me. (I’m) excited to play in the Big Ten and Go Big Red.”
