Nebraska volleyball now ranked No. 1 after toppling Wisconsin
Nebraska volleyball is the No. 1 team in the country, according to the AVCA Coaches Poll.
After the Huskers defeated Wisconsin, the previous No. 1, NU claimed their spot at the top. The Huskers won in a five-set thriller in Lincoln (25-22, 17-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-13).
The Huskers spent five weeks at No. 2 behind the Badgers. Wisconsin had been No. 1 for the first eight weeks of the season. UW is now ranked No. 2.
Nebraska took down Wisconsin for the first time since 2017, breaking a 10-match losing streak. The Bob Devaney Sports Center also set a record with 9,198 in attendance.
Nebraska is ranked No. 1 for the first time since Oct. 24, 2022. The Badgers swept them in their next match and they fell to No. 4.

The Huskers are now the only leader of the Big Ten. Wisconsin has won the last four Big Ten titles.
NU is now 19-0 for the first time since 2008 and is one of two undefeated teams in the country. The Citadel is 22-0. The Badgers were also undefeated ahead of their match in Lincoln.

Along with Nebraska and Wisconsin, four total Big Ten teams are ranked in the AVCA Coaches Poll. Purdue beat Penn State in four sets in University Park, PA on Sunday. The Boilermakers jumped three spots to No. 16. Penn State fell from No. 11 to No. 13.
Minnesota, Indiana and Ohio State all received votes this week.
Next up, the Huskers take on Maryland on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 p.m. and Rutgers on Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Both matches are at Devaney and will be streamed on B1G+.
