A back-and-forth first set broke Nebraska’s way on a 4-0 run sparked by a Omaha service error and punctuated with a block by middle Andi Jackson. Later, an ace from Harper Murray stretched the Huskers’ advantage to 15-8 forcing a second timeout from the Mavericks.

Nebraska kept up the pressure winning eight of the ensuing ten rallies. But, Omaha did not go away quietly and fought off two set points before the Huskers claimed the first set 25-14 on a service error. Lindsay Krause led her squad with four kills while Jackson added three kills and a block.

The second set began exactly like the first. Nebraska quickly separated from the Mavericks after a 4-4 tie ended in a 6-0 scoring run from the Huskers. Attack errors continued to plague Omaha. A pair of Maverick miscues and a kill from setter Bergan Reilly put Nebraska ahead 14-6 and forced a timeout from Omaha.

Jackson’s dominance defined the remainder of the set. The freshman finished with four kills in the period bringing her match total to seven kills on 10 swings. Nebraska won the second by the same score as the first, 25-14, and the Huskers took a 2-0 lead in the match.

Prior to the start of the third set, Nebraska officials announced the crowd at Memorial Stadium had claimed the world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event. A total of 92,003 fans attended Volleyball Day in Nebraska which also made it the largest crowd in the history of Memorial Stadium.

With the help of a 5-0 scoring run, the Huskers quickly pulled ahead 12-6 in the third. Nebraska grew its lead to 18-11 after a Lexi Rodriguez ace and the Maverick’s 21st attack error of the match. The Huskers cruised to victory capping the match 3-0 with a 25-13 win.

Nebraska outhit Omaha .262 to -0.80 and totaled 29 kills. Jackson led the way with eight kills on ten swings and four other Huskers had three or more kills. Amanda Hardt paced the Mavericks with five kills.

A Sunday road trip to Kansas State is next on the docket for Nebraska. The match starts at 4:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN+.
