Nebraska volleyball taking on Wichita State in Central City for Spring exhibition match

Nebraska volleyball‘s annual spring match will be in Central City, Nebraska on April 29. The Huskers will take on Wichita State at 2:00 p.m. in Central City’s new Bison Activity Dome.

The match will be televised on Nebraska Public Media and will be streamed online on B1G+.

Tickets go on sale to the public, in person only, at the main entrance of the Central City Performing Arts Center at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 10. General admission and standing room only are $12 while the limited reserved courtside seats are $27. There is a maximum of four tickets sold per person.

The Bison Activity Dome, which opened in December 2022, has a capacity of 2,098. Nebraska volleyball plays its exhibition matches across the state but this is the first time Central City has hosted the event.

The Husker players will be signing autographs after the match.

Last season, Nebraska played Kansas State at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island. They beat the Wildcats 3-1 in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,117. The Huskers have also played in Kearney, Wayne, Norfolk, McCook and others.

Nebraska volleyball fans will get a glimpse of Husker Head Coach John Cook’s new squad. The Huskers lost five starters, four graduated and one moved on from the program.

Opposite hitter Merritt Beason transferred to Nebraska from Florida and will be in a Huskers uniform for the first time. Meanwhile, five highly touted freshmen will get their first opportunities to take the court as Huskers too.

Last season, Nebraska’s year ended in a five-set battle against Oregon in the Sweet 16. Their final record was 26-6 and 16-4 in the Big Ten. They finished second in the conference.

Wichita State finished 18-13 overall in 2022 and 13-6 in the American Athletic Conference.

Husker volleyball’s beach season starts on Feb. 24 against Wayne State at the Hawks Championship Center.
