The 2022 All-Big Ten football teams and player awards rolled out on Tuesday. The league’s coaches and media named Nebraska’s Garrett Nelson to the all-conference defensive second team.

The junior EDGE and captain ranked fourth on NU’s defense with a career-high 65 tackles and led the Huskers in tackles for loss (9) and sacks (5.5). He also had two pass breakups, recovered two fumbles, and forced another fumble.

Other Nebraska defenders to earn All-Big Ten recognition were junior linebacker Luke Reimer and junior cornerback Quinton Newsome. Reimer was a consensus honorable-mention selection, while the coaches tabbed Newsome as an honorable-mention pick.
