Report: Nebraska hires Glenn Thomas as new quarterbacks coach
The biggest unknown on Nebraska’s coaching staff going into the offseason finally got an answer on Tuesday.
Per multiple national reports and first reported by The Athletic, head coach Matt Rhule will hire Pittsburgh Steelers offensive assistant coach Glenn Thomas as its full-time quarterbacks coach.
Thomas, 46, coached on Rhule’s staff at both Baylor (2017-19) and Temple (2015-16) and was the offensive coordinator at Arizona State in 2022. He was also the OC and QB coach at UNLV from 2020-21.
Husker offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, who coached QBs last season, will remain as OC but will also coach the team’s tight ends. Satterfield will replace Josh Martin, an NU analyst who took over the tight end group last fall after Bob Wager’s firing.

The Eastland, Texas, native was Rhule’s QB coach and then OC in his two seasons at Temple in 2015-16. He guided quarterback P.J. Walker to throw for 3,295 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2015.
In his lone season at ASU, Thomas helped quarterback Trenton Bourget break the program’s all-time single-season completion percentage record (71.4%).
Before joining Rhule at Temple, Thomas coached seven seasons in the NFL. He served three years as a QB coach and then an offensive assistant with the Atlanta Falcons, helping Matt Ryan reach 4,500 and 26 touchdowns each year.
