Rhule reportedly hires two more assistants, bringing full-time staff to completion
Matt Rhule’s first coaching staff at Nebraska apparently is nearing completion.
According to a report by The Athletic’s Joe Person, two more Carolina Panthers assistants are headed to Nebraska for full-time, on-field roles. Rob Dvoracek will coach linebackers (as previously reported), and Garret McGuire will handle receivers.
Both men played for and/or coached with Rhule previously.
The Panthers fired Rhule in October following the team’s 1-4 start.
Nebraska hired him on Nov. 27, and he’s filled his staff with coaches very familiar to him.

Rhule’s new assistants have one more NFL game
Dvoracek and McGuire will be the sixth and seventh coaches who worked for Rhule on Carolina’s staff. What’s more, they’re the final two pieces of Rhule’s first full-time, on-field staff.
The two assistants reportedly are set to join Nebraska following Carolina’s regular-season finale Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers are eliminated from playoff contention.
The 28-year-old Dvoracek is in his second season with the Panthers, working as a defensive assistant. A former linebacker and student assistant at Temple, Dvoracek spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Lehigh.
He worked with the defensive ends and outside linebackers at Lehigh in 2019 and 2020.
He also spent two seasons as a defensive quality control coach at Baylor under Rhule.
Dvoracek spent five seasons as part of the football program at Temple prior to Baylor. He was a two-year letter winner as a linebacker (2012, 2013) before transitioning into a coaching role following a career-ending injury. Dvoracek served as a student assistant for the Owls under Rhule while earning his bachelor’s degree in 2016. He added a master’s in educational leadership the following year.

McGuire also has history with Rhule
Meanwhile, McGuire also is in his second season with the Panthers, as an offensive assistant.
McGuire, who’ll turn 24 next month, played for Rhule at Baylor, serving as a backup quarterback and special-teams member from 2017-20. Rhule coached there from 2017 to 2019.
A native of Cedar Hill, Texas, McGuire saw action in eight games over his career and was a three-time All-Big 12 Academic selection.
McGuire’s father, Joey McGuire, currently works as Texas Tech’s head coach. Rhule hired Joey McGuire to his Baylor staff only months before Garret joined the team.
