Rhule tells Nebraska hoops crowd that his staff is "on a mission"
Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule, hired by the school Nov. 26, already has made it clear he’s comfortable with a microphone in his hand in front of a big crowd.
He clearly was in his element Saturday as he addressed the halftime crowd during the Nebraska men’s basketball game against Purdue at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Taking a break from making staff hires and his program’s big recruiting weekend on campus, Rhule told Husker fans that this isn’t just another coaching assignment for he and his staff.

The 47-year-old Rhule thanked Nebraska fans for their “overwhelming support” in the past couple weeks as he made his way around the state on recruiting trips. He said the chance to lead a program with such a caring fan base is “overwhelming.”
As a kid growing up in New York and Pennsylvania, he said, he remembered the “N” on the side of Nebraska’s helmets representing the best of the best.
He said his staff won’t rest until it’s that way again.
