Texas ATH JD Crisp de-commits from Nebraska
Another Texas-area recruit in Nebraska’s class of 2024 has parted ways with the Huskers. Cypress (Texas) Second Baptist athlete JD Crisp announced his de-commitment Thursday on social media.
The 6-foot, 188-pound Crisp committed initially to the Huskers after a Sept. 16 unofficial visit for the home opener against Northern Illinois.

“I would also like to thank Nebraska and the coaching staff for taking an opportunity on me and, lastly, my parents for their unwavering support, but I have made the tough decision to de-commit from the University of Nebraska and open my recruitment process,” Crisp said.
Crisp was not on the recruiting radar much before his commitment to the Huskers. There was also no in-home visit activity since Husker coaches hit the road last week.
Crisp tore his ACL at the end of his senior season and is set to have surgery on it next week.
Crisp’s de-commit gives Nebraska’s 2024 numbers some breathing room
It’s no secret that numbers are currently at a premium for Nebraska. NU is way over the numbers for 2024.

So, in some ways, NU can live with this de-commitment, as they currently have 12 players listed as wide receivers, defensive backs or athletes in the 25-man class.
Crisp was listed as an athlete that most projected for on defense. The Huskers already have eight scholarship true freshmen on the 2023 roster listed at defensive back and now seven for the class of 2024.
That equals 15 of 85 allotted scholarships for defensive backs in the classes of 2023 and 2024.
Crisp is the third Texas de-commit in the last few weeks, joining defensive lineman Carlon Jones and running back Kewan Lacy.
There are now six members of the 2024 recruiting class for Nebraska from Texas. That’s second only to the state of Nebraska, where there are currently eight commitments in the class of 2024.
