Texas DL Carlon Jones give Nebraska commit No. 22
The Nebraska football team picked up its 22nd commitment in the class of 2024 on Thursday. Bay City (Texas) defensive lineman Carlon Jones officially announced his commitment to the Huskers on Twitter.
The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Jones is the 16th commitment NU has added to the class of 2024 over the last 22 days in June.
Jones is also the seventh commitment from the state of Texas in the class of 2024 for the Big Red and the 14th scholarship addition Matt Rhule has added to his roster since taking over in November.
Rhule and his staff continue to strongly emphasize the state of Texas, as it’s clear it will be a big priority in the years to come. NU also hosted two satellite camps in Texas this summer, where Rhule and seven of his full-time assistants work the events with Mary Hardin-Baylor and Houston Christian.

He also becomes the second defensive lineman in NU’s class of 2024, joining Elkhorn South’s Ashton Murphy. Before Jones’ commitment, the defensive line was one of the bigger question spots in the class of 2024. Adding Jones goes a long way in filling that need in the recruiting class for the Huskers.
Jones played his high school ball at Bay City with 2023 Nebraska wide receiver recruit Brice Turner, who signed with the Huskers this past December.
Over the process, Jones made official visits to Cal, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas-San Antonio and Nebraska. His official visit to NU came on June 2.
The commitment of Jones now pushes NU’s class of 2024 up to No. 18 in the latest On3 Industry Team Rankings.
