Williams was critical to Nebraska’s success this year, especially after taking over as the primary point guard midway through the year. The 6-foot-7 transfer from Charlotte ranked in the Huskers’ top three in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and blocks per game while defending the opposing team’s top guard.
Gary recovered from a season-ending shoulder injury in 2022-23 and emerged as a key cog in NU’s starting lineup. He averaged 11.7 ppg on 50% shooting, ranked second on the team in rebounding and steals, and led in blocked shots.
Fred Hoiberg and Co. now await a decision from starting five-man Rienk Mast. The Bradley transfer was a third-team All-Big Ten selection by the league’s coaches. After the NCAA Tournament loss, he said he would explore his professional options overseas.
