Beau Sparks was at Lincoln (Neb.) Southwest until his sophomore year. Sparks moved to El Paso, Texas. Sparks had a heck of a career at Franklin HS. Matt Rhule and Nebraska took note and extended a preferred walk-on offer to Sparks. Sparks took a visit today to see what has changed in Nebraska and meet some of the new staff.

“It was great,” Sparks said. “We met up with coach Hales. He showed me around all of the buildings. Then we had a chance to talk with their athletic trainer, the director for their sports medicine, and coach Hales just showed me around and was open and honest. After lunch we went to see the new facility. It’s insane.”

There was an opportunity for Sparks to meet and talk with head coach Matt Rhule. It meant a lot to Sparks

“Coach Rhule stopped and greeted me. I am sure he’s a pretty busy guy right now, but I really appreciated him coming out to see us and take a picture. It was a great feeling for him to stop what he was doing to come and say hi.”

“Nebraska likes me as a wide receiver,” Sparks said. “I sat down and watched some film with one of the assistant quarterbacks coaches. He said that they are running a pro-style offense now. It will be balanced with run and the pass and he showed me how I would fit. It’s a great fit for me. They will run a lot of the same routes I run already.”

Nebraska was the last visit for Beau Sparks

Sparks was at Nebraska today and visited another school this past weekend. There was a thought to take another visit this weekend, but there is a conflict for Sparks.

“I was at Utah Tech last weekend and I am from Nebraska and Nebraska is way up there on my list. It’s a great opportunity and it fits me really well. I just have a lot of thinking to do before February 1st.

“I was going to take a visit to a school that offered me this weekend, but I have my senior banquet so I decided to stay and go to the banquet. It probably would have been to Army or Incarnate Word.”

Sparks plans to make a decision next week on or before NSD on February 1st.
