No. 1 2023 five-star RB Richard Young schedules official visit to Notre Dame
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman is in the process of building an elite 2023 class. As of Tuesday, that group just potentially got even more interesting.
Five-star running back Richard Young is now scheduled to make an official visit to Notre Dame on June 13. The 5-11, 199-pound Lehigh Acres (Fla.) High junior made the announcement via his Twitter account.

Per On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Young is the No. 1 running back in his class, No. 7 player from Florida and No. 25 player nationally. He is No. 65 overall in the latest On300. Young rushed for 1,755 yards and 20 touchdowns last fall for Lehigh Acres.
The Florida native released a list of top-seven schools in April, which did not include Notre Dame. Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, Florida, Texas A&M and Oklahoma made the cut. He has more than two dozen Power Five offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Alabama has an 84.9 percent chance of landing Young. Ohio State is trailing behind at 10.6 percent.

Per his On3 profile, Young’s other scheduled official visit at this time is to Georgia on June 17. He has visited Florida unofficially more than any other program, making the trip to Gainesville four times dating back to July.

Notre Dame already has one running back commit in its 2023 class in Sedrick Irvin Jr. out of Miami Christopher Columbus. He is the No. 28 running back, No. 67 player from Florida and No. 353 player nationally per On3 Consensus. The Irish are also the heavy favorite to land four-star running back Jayden Limar out of Lake Stevens (Wash.) High, who is committing on May 26. On3 RPM has Notre Dame’s chances sitting at 97.9 percent.
Young currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $227k, which ranks No. 25 among current high school athletes. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
