2024 four-star DL Brandon Davis-Swain decommits from Notre Dame
West Bloomfield (Mich.) High class of 2024 defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain announced his decommitment from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday.
The 6-2.5, 240-pounder made an impromptu commitment to the Irish back in April after the Blue-Gold Game, becoming the first pledge in Notre Dame’s 2024 class. He visited South Bend in June and again for the Clemson game in early November, but he also made trips to Ohio State and Michigan this fall.
His recruitment never seemed “closed,” and he went ahead and backed off his Irish pledge to totally open things up.
“First of all, I would like to thank the University of Notre Dame for all they have done for me,” he said in his decommitment post. “I would like to thank God, my family and friends for being there when I needed them most. Also, I appreciate the Notre Dame fan base for all the love.
“After a long conversation with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of Notre Dame and reopen my recruiting.”
Notre Dame has six commitments in the 2024 class, including one defensive lineman in Owen Wafle from Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School. The Irish are in the mix for several other defensive line targets in the 2024 cycle, so this shouldn’t be a big blow to the Irish, although Davis-Swain is a fine talent.
