The 2025 Notre Dame football schedule is set. All that was left to do prior to Monday? Finding a 12th opponent and slotting the Fighting Irish’s games against ACC opponents into the calendar.

Two birds, one stone in the ACC’s schedule reveal show Monday night.

Notre Dame’s 2025 regular season finale will be against Stanford on Nov. 29. That’s the opponent that was not yet named on the Irish schedule prior to Monday. This year is the 100th anniversary of the rivalry, which has since been commemorated as the Battle for the Legends Trophy.

The Cardinal and Fighting Irish played in the Rose Bowl game on Jan. 1, 1925. Notre Dame won, 27-10. Notre Dame holds a 24-14 advantage in the all-time series against Stanford. The Irish have won five of the last six head-to-head matchups, including a 49-7 drubbing in South Bend this past October.

Stanford, of course, is now a part of the ACC, which made it easy for the conference to announce the news of where the upcoming Battle for the Legends Trophy will be played during Monday’s 9 p.m. ET reveal of the game designations for many of the league’s other games. Also during the show, Notre Dame learned when it will play NC State, Syracuse, Boston College and Pitt.

Notre Dame’s full 2025 schedule is below.

Notre Dame is coming off a 14-2 season in Marcus Freeman‘s third year as head coach. The Fighting Irish lost to Ohio State, 34-23, in the national championship game a week ago.

Fourteen wins is the most any Fighting Irish head coach has ever had in a single season. Freeman’s team went 11-1 in the regular season with wins over Indiana, Georgia and Penn State in the College Football Playoff.

Freeman has a record of 33-10 in a head coaching career that began in the Fiesta Bowl at the end of the 2021 season. He lost his next two games, the 2022 season opener at Ohio State and that season’s home opener against Marshall, to become the first Notre Dame head coach to ever begin his tenure with an 0-3 record.

The 2024 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year has steadily gotten better since then.
