With 54 days remaining until Notre Dame officially tips off the 2022-23 women’s basketball season, the ACC released conference schedules for all of its member institutions.

The Fighting Irish have known they’ll face Northern Illinois in South Bend in the season opener on Nov. 7 for quite some time. Now, they know who they’ll go against and when in the slate of conference games.

The conference season starts for Notre Dame on Dec. 18 at Virginia Tech. The Hokies finished with the same conference record (13-5) as the Irish last season. Notre Dame won the head-to-head matchup 68-55 in South Bend on Feb. 3.

• The Boston College game is on an odd date, too. Notre Dame is tasked with trying to beat a team it lost to last year on New Year’s Day when plenty of South Bend locals will be out of town for the holidays.

• Former Notre Dame forward Sam Brunelle returns to Purcell Pavilion when Notre Dame plays host to the the Virginia Cavaliers on Jan. 22. Brunelle played in 81 games with three starts for the Irish in three seasons. She averaged 10.0 points in 23.8 minutes per game.

• Louisville beat Notre Dame 73-47 on Feb. 13 and 88-64 in the regular season finale on Feb. 27 last season. The Irish are back to being a contender in the ACC, but they will not realize their goal of winning the conference until they can compete consistently with the Cardinals.

• Notre Dame’s biggest 2021-22 victory was over No. 3 NC State at home, but now the Irish have to go to the Wolf Pack’s house to try to back up their big win in enemy territory on Jan. 29.
