Notre Dame flips 2025 QB Blake Hebert from Clemson
The search for Notre Dame football’s 2025 class quarterback is over. On Monday, three-star recruit Blake Hebert flipped his verbal commitment from Clemson to the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame initially offered Hebert during an unofficial visit on June 10, 2023. However, the Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School product pledged to the Tigers six days later.
The Irish moved forward with their pursuit of four-star quarterback target Deuce Knight from Lucedale (Miss.) George County and secured his pledge on Sept. 18, 2023. But after Knight flipped to Auburn on Oct. 2, Hebert re-emerged as coach Marcus Freeman and Company’s top target once again over several other marquee passers in the 2025 class.
Hebert is the No. 408 overall player and No. 30 quarterback in 2025 and comes from familiar territory. He is high school teammates with current Irish commits offensive tackle Matty Augustine and safety Ethan Long. Long, a three-star, and Augustine, a four-star, announced their verbal commitments to the Irish on Jan. 8 and Feb. 20, respectively.
Before Hebert committed to Clemson, he reported 15 other offers besides the Irish. The 6-2½, 215-pounder paid visits to Penn State, Rutgers and Virginia before announcing his initial decision in favor of Dabo Swinney’s program.
Through the first four games of his senior season, Hebert has completed 50-92 passes for 900 yards, 8 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also has 23 carries for 234 yards and 7 more scores. Under his direction, the Bruins are 4-0 and the No. 2 team in the state, per On3’s Massey Ratings.

The 2024 campaign marks Hebert’s first at Brunswick School. He previously attended Lawrence (Mass.) Central Catholic, which is about 200 miles away from his current institution. Central Catholic is the same school that produced Notre Dame sophomore linebacker Preston Zinter.
In the first game of Hebert’s junior season, he broke his ankle, which caused him to miss the rest of the 2023 campaign. As a sophomore, he threw for 1,748 yards and 24 touchdowns.
According to CT Insider, Hebert grew up in Vancouver, Canada, before his family moved to Massachusetts when he was 14. The Irish have three Canadian players on their roster: defensive linemen Devan Houstan, Armel Mukam and Sean Sevillano Jr.
With Hebert’s commitment, Notre Dame’s 2025 class is up to 23 pledges and ranks No. 13 in the country. The Irish flipped three-star interior offensive lineman Cameron Herron from Iowa earlier on Monday. Indianapolis Warren Central’s Herron is the No. 34 interior offensive lineman nationally and the No. 8 prospect in Indiana in the class.
