Update to visit plans for Notre Dame safety target Davis Andrews
American Fork (Utah) High class of 2024 safety Davis Andrews plans to take five official visits, and he has three of them locked in, Blue & Gold has learned.
The 6-2, 190-pounder will be at UCLA May 26, Notre Dame June 6 and Utah June 9.
Blue & Gold had previously reported on all three visits, but the update is that his trip to South Bend next month will be for his official visit rather than an unofficial visit, which was the original plan. The scheduled trips to UCLA and Utah are also for official visits.
On April 28, Andrews announced a top-six schools list of Notre Dame, Utah, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA and BYU.
He ranks as the nation’s No. 684 overall recruit and No. 74 safety according to the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 6 player from his home state of Utah.
According to On3’s own rankings, he’s a three-star recruit, the No. 77 safety in America and No. 11 prospect from Utah.
Utah is considered the slight leader for Andrews according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 29.2 percent. Stanford is running in second at 25.5 percent.
Andrews picked up his offer from Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and safeties coach Chris O’Leary Jan. 25.

“They like longer safeties who can come up and hit,” Andrews previously told Blue & Gold. “That’s what I do. They told me how much they want me and offered me.”
Andrews got a look at Notre Dame for the first time during the weekend of the Blue-Gold Game. While in South Bend for the visit, he was able to play nine holes of golf with former Irish safety and current Baltimore Ravens standout Kyle Hamilton.
He also took spring visits to Northwestern, Tennessee, BYU, Utah State and UCLA.
Notre Dame safety recruiting outlook
The Irish have 14 commitments in their 2024 class and three of them are defensive backs. Notre Dame has have a pair of cornerback pledges in Round Rock (Texas) High’s Leonard Moore and Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller’s Karson Hobbs.
Chandler (Ariz.) High’s Kennedy Urlacher became the first safety pledge of Notre Dame’s 2024 class when he announced his commitment May 1.
The Irish staff would love to land both Davis Andrews along with Urlacher, and a couple other top targets for the coaches are Baltimore Gilmore’s Dejaun Lane and El Campo (Texas) High’s Oliver Miles. Both Lane and Miles visited Notre Dame in April.
