Who leads for Edwards?
Heading into his decision, Notre Dame is considered the favorite according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 66.5 percent.
On3’s RPM was released to the public in early December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits and historical trends.
Edwards committed to Kansas State in late June just to re-open his commitment a month later. He picked up an offer from the Irish last Wednesday and was on campus the following two days. Last Friday night is when he announced that he was stepping away from his Wildcats’ pledge.
“At this moment I’d like to thank the whole Kansas State staff and fan base for this amazing opportunity to become a Wildcat,” Edwards said in his statement published through On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “After recent thoughts and talks with my family, I’d like to decommit and take a step back, and reopen my recruitment.
“Kansas State will always have a special place in my heart. But you get this opportunity one time, and with God’s grace I’ll pick what is fully best for me.”

And on Tuesday, Edwards informed On3’s Chad Simmons that he had a new commitment date in mind.
“I am committing on August 6,” Edwards told On3. “I want to focus on my senior year and not be too worried about recruiting, so I will be making my decision soon.”
His final three consists of Kansas State, Notre Dame and Oregon. It seems that the Wildcats are nothing more than a hat on the table, considering he just backed away from his commitment to them a week ago. Oregon has been fighting for Edwards and sent him an “official” scholarship offer on Monday.
Edwards ranks as the No. 291 overall prospect and No. 16 running back according to the 2023 On3 Consensus.
He is committed to playing in the 2023 Under Armour All-American and was named the 2021 Kansas Gatorade Player of The Year.
