Top 175 CB Devin Williams schedules Notre Dame football return visit
The Notre Dame football program will welcome one of the top defensive backs from the South to campus for an unofficial visit on Jan. 20. On Wednesday, On3 director of recruiting Chad Simmons reported 2025 cornerback Devin Williams has plans to return to South Bend for ND’s junior day event.
The Fighting Irish will be one of three teams to host the 5-foot-11, 168-pound Williams on an unofficial visit this winter. Besides Notre Dame, Simmons also reported Williams intends to visit Auburn on Jan. 13 and Alabama on Feb. 3.
Currently, Williams is the No. 111 overall player, No. 14 cornerback nationally and No. 16 prospect in Georgia, per the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
Notre Dame offered the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 1 cornerback in Georgia in 2025 during the program’s March 17 Pot of Gold Day. About 65 recruits reported new offers from the Irish during the St. Patrick’s Day-themed recruiting event, including eight cornerbacks.
Williams unofficially visited Notre Dame for the first time on June 22. He made the trip without intending to participate in the program’s Evaluation Camp III. However, Williams could not resist the opportunity to work one-on-one with Irish cornerbacks Mike Mickens.
“I love Coach Mickens,” Williams told Blue & Gold on July 6. “He gave me some tips and pointers. He’s definitely a great coach to work with. He gave me some tools to add to my tool belt that I’ll add to the field this season. I’ll use different techniques he’s taught me. He’s a really good teacher and a technician.”

Eventually, the Irish welcomed Williams back to campus for the Ohio State game on Sept. 23. That trip marked another successful one for the standout high school junior defensive back.
“Going into the game, I didn’t expect the crowd to be that crazy,” Willams told Blue & Gold. “That was the most wild crowd I’ve been in so far. Notre Dame’s ability to play Ohio State the way they did was eye-opening. It shows their improvement throughout the years. It was an insane game.”
In addition, Willams also attended game-day visits at Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee. He has reported four other visits to Alabama, whereas three to Auburn.
Notre Dame has one cornerback commit in the 2025 cycle in Phoenix Brophy College Prep’s Cree Thomas. A full list of expected visitors for Jan. 20 can be found on The Lou Somogyi message board.
