Notre Dame has business to take care of as a double-digit favorite against Army this weekend. Oddsmaskers, though, are already looking ahead. DraftKings set a betting line for the Irish and the Trojans in the regular season finale.

Notre Dame is a 6.5-point road favorite.

The Irish have only been a favorite over Southern Cal at the Los Angeles Coliseum twice in the last 12 meetings, a stretch that goes all the way back to 1998, according to the OddsShark data base. They were favored by two touchdowns in 2018 and by 4.5 points in 2012. The Irish won both games, covering the spread in 2012 but only winning by a touchdown in 2018.

In the aforementioned last 12 meetings in L.A., the Irish have a 4-8 record overall and a 3-9 record against the spread. While it would be nice to cover this year’s line and win by at least a touchdown, and the extras point, head coach Marcus Freeman’s team should take a victory by any margin.

That’s what you do in rivalry games.

It doesn’t get any better than a seven-year U.S. Army native kicking off against Army at Yankee Stadium. The Irish’s Shamrock Series games make things like this possible.

It’s all about your mindset. Jayden Harrison has a good one.

Fighting Irish quote of the day

“This is an extremely unselfish group of skill players we have on offense. I’ve got a lot of rushing touchdowns, so maybe from a receiving group you might hear a small thing like, ‘Ah, here we go again, another rushing touchdown from the quarterback,’ but these guys don’t say a thing. They’re in the end zone, celebrating with me.”
