Notre Dame and the 2023 college football season is about two months from concluding, so coverage of the 2024 NFL Draft is starting to warm up.

On Wednesday, ESPN NFL Draft analyst Jordan Reid revealed his top 16 quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft. Reid ranked Notre Dame graduate student quarterback Sam Hartman the No. 14 passer in the upcoming draft. He also assigned Hartman with a “late day three” grade.

“Getting the ball out quickly hasn’t been a problem for Hartman, as he’s a quick decision-maker,” Reid said. “But he has also been accurate on deep throws, even though he has arm strength limitations. Hartman has 8 touchdowns to 1 interception and an 87.7 QBR on throws 20-plus yards downfield this season.”

Hartman has led No. 20 Notre Dame to a 7-3 record in 10 games during his only season with the Irish. He has completed 162 of 258 passes (62.8 percent) for 2,272 yards, 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Hartman transferred to Notre Dame after five years at Wake Forest.

“I’m so glad that he got out of that Wake offense because he wasn’t doing anything that projects to the next level,” said an AFC area scout, according to Reid.

In 58 career games, Hartman has thrown for 15,239 yards, 128 touchdowns and 48 interceptions. He has connected on 1,106 of 1,855 (59.6 percent) of his throws. Hartman’s next game with the Irish comes against his former team on Nov. 18. The Demon Deacons are 4-5.
