Deion Colzie will continue his college football career in Oxford, Ohio. On Wednesday, On3 college sports business and transfer portal reporter Pete Nakos reported the former Notre Dame wide receiver has signed with Miami (Ohio).

The 6-foot-4, 211-pound Colzie entered the NCAA Transfer Portal last Wednesday with one more year of collegiate eligibility remaining. According to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking, he’s the No. 888 overall player and No. 149 wide receiver in the portal.

The RedHawks have become a popular destination for former Fighting Irish pass-catchers. Two years ago, Joe Wilkins Jr. opted to transfer to Miami (Ohio). Former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chuck Martin has been the school’s head coach since 2014. Martin was in South Bend from 2010-13.

Colzie was one of two Notre Dame wide receivers to enter the transfer portal following the 2024 season. Jayden Thomas also made his intentions known last Wednesday before committing to Virginia on Monday. Thomas was the No. 560 overall player and No. 101 wide receiver in the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking.

This past season — his final at Notre Dame — Colzie played in all 16 games, hauling in 5 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. He totaled 132 snaps this season, with his single-game high being 26 plays during a blowout victory against Purdue.

Colzie found a role in Notre Dame’s short-yardage quarterback run package, primarily playing in the slot.

Colzie played in four regular-season games and the Sun Bowl in 2023, which he used for his redshirt year. However, a knee injury limited him during his junior season, and he had just 3 receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown.

The 6-4, 211-pounder from McDonough, Ga., had his best season in 2022 when he caught nine passes for 192 yards and his first touchdown. As a freshman, he posted 4 receptions for 67 yards.

Colzie was a decorated recruit out of Athens (Ga.) Athens Academy. According to the 2021 On3 Industry Ranking, he was the No. 101 overall player and No. 17 wide receiver nationally. He committed to Notre Dame during his junior season but backed off his pledge. He considered Florida, Georgia and Tennessee but later recommitted to the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame has the following wide receivers on scholarship for the 2025 season: Malachi Fields, Will Pauling, Jaden Greathouse, Jordan Faison, KK Smith, Cam Williams, Micah Gilbert, Logan Saldate, Elijah Buress, Jerome Bettis Jr. and Scrap Richardson.
