Well, it didn’t take long for Kyle Hamilton to cause some chaos at the next level. That’s not particularly surprising.
On Thursday, the NFL formally opened its preseason competition with a pair of games, including a contest between the Baltimore Ravens and the Tennessee Titans at M&T Bank Stadium. Hamilton, a former Notre Dame safety who was taken No. 14 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Ravens, recovered a fumble and notched a tackle in his debut.
Where Hamilton falls on the depth chart once the season begins remains undetermined, but he will surely get playing time as a rookie.
Baltimore ultimately topped Tennessee 23-10.
A couple of other former Irish stars were in action on Thursday as well. After signing with the New England Patriots on Aug. 2, Jalen Elliott had a productive night against the New York Giants. The safety posted eight tackles, a tackle for loss, and was flying around the secondary throughout the broadcast. He led New England in total stops.

On the other sideline, fourth-year defensive back Julian Love made one tackle for New York. The presumptive starter understandably didn’t play much. The Giants topped the Patriots 23-21 on a 24-yard field goal by veteran Graham Gano as time expired.
