Four-star safety Adon Shuler becomes seventh 2023 Notre Dame commit with an Alabama offer
Another 2023 Notre Dame commit has picked up an offer from America’s premier college football program.
On Friday, safety Adon Shuler announced he has received an offer to play at Alabama. The four-star, Irvington (N.J.) High defensive back now has 20 Power Five offers, six of which are from the SEC.

Shuler committed to Notre Dame on Aug. 15 over Maryland and Penn State. According to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Shuler is the No. 2 player in New Jersey, and the No. 13 safety and No. 180 overall player in the 2023 class.
Other Irish commits with Alabama offers
Shuler is far from the only Irish commit in his class with the opportunity to play for legendary Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban. In total, seven of Notre Dame’s nine 2023 commits hold Alabama offers.
Unsurprisingly, the No. 7 overall prospect in America according to On3 Consensus (and No. 3 overall according to On3) has the option to play for Alabama. EDGE Keon Keeley committed to Notre Dame in June, but a number of other schools remain in the mix. According to On3 RPM, there is a 9.3 percent chance Keeley flips to the Tide. The biggest threat, per the metric, is home-state Florida (29.2 percent), where Keeley visited last weekend.
Another top-100 prospect, Brenan Vernon, holds an Alabama offer. The Ohio native chose Notre Dame over Ohio State.
Cornerback Justyn Rhett’s chances of making Tuscaloosa his home are also unnerving for Irish fans. Rhett committed to Notre Dame on Dec. 11, but Alabama and Georgia are pushing hard to flip him. According to On3 RPM, Notre Dame still has the best shot (53.8 percent), but Alabama and Georgia are lurking at 18.8 percent each.
The Las Vegas Bishop Gorman prospect recently told BlueandGold.com that he is locked in despite the fact that he is considering taking multiple official visits.

Florida to retain head coach
“It’s Notre Dame for sure,” Rhett said. “We might still take official visits to other schools, but I’m locked on Notre Dame. It’s the whole experience. I can only do this one time.”
Tight end commit Cooper Flanagan has been raking in the offers, including from the Tide. According to Singer, Flanagan is not planning to take other official visits. He is locked in and will be on campus April 8 and June 10. The latter trip will be his official.
Flanagan’s primary recruiter at Alabama is wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins. His name was tossed around as a potential candidate to take over the wide receivers room at Notre Dame.
Four-star safety and Texan Peyton Bowen also holds an offer from Alabama, and there is little chance he flips at this point, although anything is possible.
“I’m good with Notre Dame,” Bowen said. “They’re my No. 1 school. It’s an amazing school. I’m still looking just to make sure. At the end of the day, I’m a kid.”
He recently took visits to Oklahoma and Ole Miss. He has not visited Alabama.
Finally, Miami Christopher Columbus’ Sedrick Irvin Jr. — the No. 66 player in Florida, and the No. 25 running back and No. 344 overall player nationally — also holds a Tide offer. Irvin was in South Bend in January and called the visit “pretty much perfect.” Quite the review from a Miami recruit about a mid-winter trip to Indiana.
