2024 team records: Fighting Irish — 8-1 (W, 23-13 at Texas A&M; L, 16-14 vs. NIU; W, 66-7 at Purdue; W, 28-3 vs. Miami University; W, 31-24 vs. Louisville; W, 49-7 vs. Stanford; W, 31-13 at Georgia Tech; W, 51-14 at Navy; W, 52-3 vs. Florida State); Virginia — 5-4 (W, 34-13 vs. Richmond; W, 31-30 at Wake Forest; L, 27-13 vs. Maryland; W, 43-24 at Coastal Carolina; W, 24-14 vs. Boston College; L, 24-20 vs. Louisville; L, 48-31 at Clemson; L, 41-14 vs. North Carolina; W, 24-19 at Pitt)

Noting Notre Dame: Notre Dame has won seven games in a row since losing to Northern Illinois. The Fighting Irish have won those games by an average margin of 33.9 points per game. This seems like another spot where Freeman’s team can notch a big victory and set up a pair of crucial away-from-home games against Army and USC to finish out the November slate.

Noting Virginia: Virginia snapped a three-game losing skid with a win over No. 18 Pittsburgh last week. It was well-needed for the Cavaliers, who are bowl eligible for the first time in the Elliott era with their next win. UVA has not played in a bowl game since the 2019 season, but it’ll be tough to get the win it needs against Notre Dame on Senior Day in South Bend.
