Noting Notre Dame: Notre Dame is on a six-game winning streak, the longest of the Freeman era. The Fighting Irish have only played one team ranked at the time of kickoff in that span, then-No. 20 Louisville in the last week of September. Still, the Irish have won those half a dozen games by an average margin of 31.3 points. The defense is elite, and the offense is getting better. Everything is building toward a strong finish for the Irish.

Noting Florida State: After a 10-3 season in 2022 and a 13-1 season last year, the Seminoles have regressed to being even worse than they were in Norvell’s first two seasons at FSU — 3-6 in 2020 and a 5-7 showing in 2021 … Florida State lost to Duke in Week 8 despite allowing just 180 total yards; the Seminoles turned the ball over 4 times, while the Blue Devils did not turn it over once … Only one team in college football, Air Force, scores fewer points per game than FSU’s 14.4 … Florida State’s scoring defense is bad but not as atrocious as the scoring offense; the Seminoles’ 27.3 points allowed per game ranks 86th nationally.
