How to watch Notre Dame men’s lacrosse vs. Maryland in national championship
After 42 title-less years, one national championship wasn’t enough for No. 1 Notre Dame men’s lacrosse. The Irish are one win away from leaving Philadelphia with a trophy in back-to-back seasons.
Only one team stands in their way: No. 7 Maryland, who pulled off two upset wins over No. 2 Duke and No. 6 Virginia in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
When Notre Dame head coach Kevin Corrigan’s group takes the field Monday afternoon, its two Tewaaraton Award finalists — attackman Pat Kavanagh and goalie Liam Entenmann — will do so for the final time in their college careers. The two graduate students will go down as two of the greatest players ever to don the blue and gold in men’s lacrosse, and they’ll look to go out with a second ring.
Here’s everything you need to know about the matchup.

• Maryland entered the NCAA Tournament on a two-game losing streak, falling to No. 3 Johns Hopkins in its regular-season finale and No. 9 Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. But the Terrapins caught fire at the right time, beating Princeton in the first round before taking down Duke and Virginia.
• The Terps outplayed the Cavaliers from the opening face off Saturday afternoon, jumping out to a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and winning 12-6. Senior attackman Daniel Kelly led Maryland with 3 goals, while junior attackman Eric Spanos put up a team-leading 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists).
• In goal, graduate student Logan McNaney earned the win by making 8 saves on 14 shots.
• The Irish pulled away from Denver in the second half of their semifinal win, as McLane, Kavanagh and junior attackman Chris Kavanagh tallied 3 goals apiece. The Kavanaghs have been unstoppable throughout the postseason, and if they come through against the Terrapins, Notre Dame might go home with a trophy.
• Corrigan won his 350th game in 36 seasons as Notre Dame’s head coach. According to the Irish, he’s the first Division I men’s lacrosse coach to reach that milestone. He won’t be satisfied, though, without No. 351.
