One of the Fighting Irish’s top remaining defensive line targets in the 2025 cycle has narrowed his recruitment. On Monday, three-star defensive lineman Javeon Campbell revealed a top nine schools list of Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Miami and Ohio State.

Currently, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Campbell — a product of Frankfort (Ky.) Western Hills — reports 19 offers in total. Cincinnati, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Vanderbilt and West Virginia also offered him. However, he did not include those programs in his top schools.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — Campbell is the No. 405 overall player, No. 34 defensive lineman nationally and No. 3 prospect in Kentucky.

Comparatively, in On3’s rankings, Campbell is the No. 26 defensive lineman in the nation.

The release of Campbell’s top school’s list comes ahead of a critical week of unofficial visits. He is scheduled to pay trips to Notre Dame, Kentucky and Ohio State. Campbell told Blue & Gold that his first time in South Bend had a personalized feel.

“It was just really personal,” Campbell told Blue & Gold on Feb. 20. “It was just me, my family, coaches and my girlfriend going around the campus. They gave us a private tour of what Notre Dame has to offer.”

Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington offered Campbell on Jan. 25. At that time, the Irish were just the third school to give him a scholarship.

Campbell has only one year of high school football experience. He registered 14.5 sacks in 7.5 games in his first season and was named first-team All-District.

Of his top schools, Campbell has publicized official visits to Georgia (June 21-24) and Ohio State (May 31-June 2). Ahead of this week’s trip of unofficial visits, Campbell has already made previous trips to Auburn, Georgia and Kentucky. He has also been to Michigan and Tennessee. However, neither school has offered him a scholarship.

A glance at Notre Dame football’s 2025 defensive line recruiting class

Notre Dame currently has three defensive linemen committed in the 2025 class: Christopher Burgess Jr., Davion Dixon and Joseph Reiff. Chicago Simeon’s Burgess projects as an EDGE rusher, while On3 evaluates Elmhurst (Ill.) York Community’s Reiff and Miami Palmetto’s Dixon as defensive linemen.

Burgess and Reiff are four-star prospects and are the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 13 EDGE and No. 25 defensive lineman in the class, respectively. Dixon, a three-star, is the No. 52 DL in the class, per the On3 Industry Ranking. Campbell projects as an interior DL.
