Newsstand: Notre Dame 2025 recruiting target reveals top eight schools
On Sunday, the Fighting Irish remained in the running for 2025 cornerback Kevyn Humes from Baltimore St. Frances Academy, the No. 8 school in the nation. The three-star recruit narrowed his list of 29 scholarship offers to a top eight of Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Ohio State, Oregon and Tennessee.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Humes’ announcement comes after he reported unofficial college recruiting visits to Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State during June. He also visited Notre Dame for the first time on March 24.
“Their meetings were quick and simple,” Humes told Blue & Gold after his first trip to South Bend. “But it got a lot of information covered. If you go to Notre Dame, you have to play fast and think smart. That’s what they were trying to instill in me.”
He also saw LSU, Maryland, Miami (Fla.) and Tennessee during the spring. Humes previously visited Boston College, NC State, Northwestern, Penn State and West Virginia. Each one of those schools did not make his top eight.
The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — considers Humes the No. 330 0verall player, No. 33 cornerback and No. 10 prospect in Maryland. He has an 88.52 rating.
In On3’s own rankings, he’s the No. 50 cornerback and No. 15 prospect in Maryland. On3 gave him an 87 rating.
Humes’ On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $25,000.
The Irish have offered 13 other cornerbacks in the 2025 recruiting cycle, including Humes’ teammate, four-star cornerback Blake Woodby. Humes reported his offer on March 17 during Notre Dame’s annual Pot of Gold Day. That same day, it sent out 64 other new scholarship offers.
