Noting Notre Dame: We’ll keep this section short and sweet because the Irish’s story is is pretty simple. Notre Dame lost to a mid-pack MAC team in Week 2 and has not lost since. Along the way, the Irish have turned into one of the nation’s best rushing attacks, ranking 10th in the FBS with 224.83 rushing yards per game, and one of the best overall defenses in college football, too, ranking ninth for total yards allowed per game, 296.8. This is a balanced Irish teams that has won 10 games in a row by an average margin of over 30 points per game. No team, though, in that stretch of 10 games has been able to test Notre Dame quite like the Hoosiers.
Noting Indiana: The Hoosiers started 10-0 for the first time in program history, and the 11 wins are also an all-time program record … Cignetti is the first coach in Division I history to start consecutive seasons 10-0 at different programs; he was also 10-0 at James Madison in 2023 … Thirteen former James Madison players followed Cignetti to Indiana via the transfer portal; the Hoosiers took in 27 transfer portal players in total … Indiana has tied a single-season record with 37 rushing touchdowns … Kicker Nicolas Radicic is 69 of 69 on extra points and was perfect on field goals until he missed one in the regular-season finale against Purdue; he’s 9 of 10 now, much better than Notre Dame’s 8 of 18 as a team … The Hoosiers rank No. 2 nationally in scoring offense and No. 6 in scoring defense.
