Notre Dame traveled to El Paso, Texas this week to take on Oregon State in the Sun Bowl. The Irish and the Beavers kick off at 2 p.m. ET on Friday as second-year head coach Marcus Freeman looks for his first 10-win season.

Follow along for Blue & Gold’s live updates, analysis and the score as it happens.

First quarter

• Notre Dame has won the coin toss and elected to defer. Oregon State, led by quarterback Ben Gulbranson, will start with the football.

• After a quick first down, the Irish forced a punt on the Beavers’ first possession. Graduate linebacker Jack Kiser made a textbook tackle on second down to set up third-and-long, and Notre Dame has been virtually untouchable on that down all season.

• Touchdown, Irish. After a coverage bust and a deep pass to Jordan Faison got the Irish in Oregon State territory and tough running by Jeremiyah Love got them to the red zone, Steve Angeli found Jayden Thomas, who scored to complete a 96-yard drive. Notre Dame 7, Oregon State 0.

• Notre Dame forces another punt after Jaden Mickey — playing with a heavy heart after the tragic passing of his mother, Nilka, due to colon cancer — drew a holding penalty to set up first-and-20. Two plays later, JD Bertrand got pressure on Gulbranson to cause an incompletion and get the Irish off the field.

Second quarter

• After a promising drive, an Oregon State sack dropped Notre Dame to a fourth-and-15 and forced a 50-yard field goal attempt. Graduate kicker Spencer Shrader hooked it left, and the Beavers will take over with very good field position.

• It’s apparent early that the Beavers can’t move the chains if they’re behind the sticks. The Irish are perfectly content rush 5-6 and have everyone else hang out at the first-down marker, and it’s working. Notre Dame gets its third-straight stop.

• Another Irish possession was foiled by an Oregon State sack, this time coming rom veteran edge rusher Andrew Chatfield Jr. Angeli hung back in the pocket for just a bit too long and Chatfield beat freshman offensive tackle Charles Jagusah. Notre Dame punts.

• Joshua Burnham stops a fake punt in its tracks for a huge loss, and the Irish take over with great field position. Christian Gray created the fourth down with a great three-play sequence that included a pass breakup and a tackle.

• Touchdown, Irish. Jadarian Price punches it in from one yard out after a great drive on his part. Right guard Billy Schrauth made the key block at the goal line. Notre Dame 14, Oregon State 0

Third quarter

• Oregon State wide receiver Silas Bolden has been ruled out for the rest of the game with a hamstring injury. That’s a big blow to the Beavers’ comeback hopes.

Fourth quarter

• As it is a blowout, all updates will be score updates from now on.
