Tim Hyde’s thoughts on Notre Dame’s players at the 2023 NFL Combine
“Mayer was outstanding at the combine. … You couple that with his film, the program he’s played for and the stats he posted for three years — he solidified himself as the first tight end [to be drafted] and a middle first-round guy.
“Foskey was solid. He had outstanding numbers. The thing with him is his film — sometimes he disappears and sometimes he shows up. He needs to develop his pass rush moves for the next level. He probably locked in a second round selection, where a ton of Notre Dame defensive linemen have gone, which is good for him … He has too much natural ability, length and explosiveness. Plus, he’s an outstanding special teams player.

“Patterson is a Notre Dame lineman. Is he going to be drafted and play for 10 years? What’re the odds for that? Pretty high. He’ll be drafted around the third round and be a center or guard for the next decade.
“Joseph — I was never a fan of his. He was at the bottom of a lot of rankings, which isn’t shocking. I was surprised he even got invited. I thought Tariq Bracy had a heck of a last couple years. How he didn’t get a nod for me over Joseph was the biggest surprise.
“The Ademilola twins and Lugg will probably be free agents.”
