Notre Dame lands three-star guard, former Penn State signee Logan Imes
Micah Shrewsberry promised he would recruit the state of Indiana hard for as long as he is Notre Dame head coach. He has added a Hoosier to his first recruiting class.
Zionsville (Ind.) three-star guard Logan Imes announced Wednesday he has committed to the Irish. He’s a former Penn State signee who Shrewsberry recruited as the Nittany Lions’ head coach. He requested and was granted his release in the days following Shrewsberry’s departure for Notre Dame.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound Imes is the No. 210 overall player and the No. 23 combo guard in the 2023 On3 Industry Ranking. He originally chose Penn State in March 2022 from an offer list that included Butler, Bradley, Creighton, Drake, UMass, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Imes is heading to Notre Dame with multiple familiar faces. He played AAU basketball for Indiana Elite, where he was teammates with Braeden Shrewsberry, Micah’s oldest son. The younger Shrewsberry, also a former Penn State signee, announced his commitment to Notre Dame May 1. With Imes in the fold, Notre Dame has all three former Penn State 2023 signees. The third, four-star forward Carey Booth, committed to the Irish May 2.
Imes averaged 16.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game as a senior, shooting 46 percent overall and 34.5 percent on 3-pointers. He liked Penn State not only because he knew Braeden, but also because he felt the elder Shrewsberry’s offense fit him.

“They run a lot of pick-and-rolls and stuff,” Imes told BlueWhiteIllustrated when he committed in March 2022. “The guards have a big creative role. They gotta drive. They gotta be able to handle the ball. When I was talking to Coach Shrews, he was saying that he wants three guys out there that can all handle the ball and go off picks and get downhill and create something for themselves.
“That’s me. I see myself as a creator. I know that my greatest attribute is I can make stuff happen breaking down defenses, reading defenses, using my IQ, finding open guys. I think that’s what he wants to do, so I feel like this is definitely a role that I could succeed in.”
Imes is the second Indiana product in Notre Dame’s 2023 high school class, joining Mishawaka Penn three-star guard Markus Burton. Burton signed with Notre Dame in November and did not ask for a release following the Jan. 19 announcement that Mike Brey would step down as head coach. He was named Indiana’s Mr. Basketball as a senior.
