One of Notre Dame’s top recruiting targets in the 2024 class has set a commitment date two days after his second unofficial college recruiting visit to campus this spring. Four-star EDGE Loghan Thomas will make his college decision public Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. EDT, he announced on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Thomas first traveled to South Bend for a three-day unofficial visit the weekend of March 24. During it, he scheduled an official visit for the weekend of June 9. However, he couldn’t wait that long to return to campus and unofficially visited last weekend.

Thomas is a junior at Katy (Texas) Paetow High and has reported opposing unofficial visits to Texas Tech (3), Oklahoma (2), Texas A&M, Georgia, Texas and Ohio State. While the Buckeyes did not offer him a scholarship after participating in a summer camp last June, Thomas reports 17 Power Five scholarship offers.

Thirteen of Thomas’ Power Five scholarship offers came after he earned MVP recognition at the All-American Bowl National Combine on Jan. 7. Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington offered Thomas three days later.

The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — evaluates Thomas as the No. 169 overall player, No. 11 EDGE and No. 30 prospect in Texas. He has a 91.84 rating.

In On3’s own rankings, Thomas is the No. 101 overall player, No. 9 EDGE and No. 23 prospect in Texas. On3 gave him a 93 rating.

Thomas’ On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $77,000. That ranks No. 357 among high school football prospects.

Since the Irish offered Thomas on Jan. 10, Notre Dame has become a staple in his recruitment.

Although he had never visited campus, the Fighting Irish made it into his March 14 top 10, which also included Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Southern California, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Thomas visited Notre Dame nine days later and was amazed by his experience.

“I was a little skeptical,” Thomas told Blue & Gold last month. “I was up there for a couple of days. So, I was like, ‘I don’t know what I will do for three days on a visit.’ I would do just everything in one day.

“But I actually didn’t even want to leave at the end of that. That stuck out to me — the fact that I was there for three days, and I was still eager to spend time with them.”

He then returned to campus last weekend for a multi-day visit. Notre Dame is the only school he’s visited twice this spring.

On Monday, Blue & Gold submitted an On3 Recruiting Insider Prediction with a 60% confidence level for the Irish to secure his pledge eventually.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), which utilizes machine learning to forecast college choices, gives Notre Dame a 96.1% chance to land his commitment.
