Notre Dame football extended its lead in the 2025 recruiting cycle to 17 commitments on Tuesday. Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School offensive tackle Matty Augustine gave the Fighting Irish their latest pledge. Now, ND has five more commitments than the next closest school (Penn State).

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Augustine chose the Irish over the Nittany Lions, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin. During his recruitment, the three-star prospect reported 22 other “Core Four” (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC) offers, including Alabama, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Stanford, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — Augustine is the No. 353 overall player, No. 25 offensive tackle and No. 3 prospect in Connecticut. He has an 89 rating.

In On3’s own rankings, Augustine is the No. 29 offensive tackle and still the No. 3 recruit in Connecticut. He also has an 89 rating. On3 plans to update their 2025 class player rankings later this winter.

Social media showed plenty of excitement after Augustine announced his pledge to the Irish. Here is how users reacted.
