Davison (Mich.) High’s Ben Nichols, the No. 199 player and No. 16 interior offensive lineman nationally per the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, narrowed his recruitment down to nine schools Monday.

Alabama, Michigan State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Penn State, Wisconsin, Kentucky and Iowa make up his top group.

“Thank you to every program and coach that has believed in me and given me these opportunities,” Nichols tweeted. “These will be the top nine schools I will be focusing on from now on.”

Notre Dame is considered the team to beat according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Blue & Gold’s Kyle Kelly logged a prediction for Nichols to end up committing to Notre Dame back in September.

Two days prior to Kelly making that pick, Nichols was in South Bend to see the Irish in action.

“It’s great man; I love them,” Nichols previously said regarding the Irish staff. “Every time I’m there, they treat me the same. They’re super energetic and always happy to see me. They’re great coaches who have had success. That’s a big deal to me.”

Quote of the day

”He played the best game he’s played all year – the most complete game in the run and pass game that he’s played all year. It was great to see him make that touchdown and that catch was big-time catch. I know it was incomplete, but that’s the Mitchell Evans we’ve been waiting on. He’s finally getting back to that guy, but it was good to see him play his most complete game he’s played all year.”
