Newsstand: Micah Shrewsberry offers first three 2024 recruits as Notre Dame head coach
Micah Shrewsberry extended his first three offers to 2024 recruits as Notre Dame men’s basketball head coach over Easter Weekend. All three recipients were recruits he offered while at Penn State.
The Irish offered Bloomington (Ill.) Central Catholic three-star guard Cole Certa and Baltimore St. John’s College three-star guard Daquan Davis Sunday. They sent out an offer to Charlotte Myers Park four-star wing Sir Mohammed Monday.
Certa (6-foot-5, 175 pounds) is the No. 179 overall player in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. Davis (6-foot-1, 185) is at No. 125 overall. Mohammed (6-foot-6, 200) is the highest ranked of the three, at No. 90. He is also the son of former NBA forward Nazr Mohammed.
“The relationship made with the Coach (Micah) Shrewsberry and Coach Aki (Collins) and the rest of the staff has been amazing,” Mohammed told On3 national basketball recruiting analyst Joe Tipton.

Each had interest in Penn State while Shrewsberry was the head coach. Mohammed included the Nittany Lions in his top six just two days before Shrewsberry left and took an official visit to Penn State last fall. The other five teams to make the cut were Marquette, Texas, Stanford, Villanova and Virginia Tech. Mike Brey’s Notre Dame staff had also offered him. Davis went on an unofficial visit to Penn State in the fall.

Quote of the Day
“Michael Mayer is the best all-around tight end in this class. He’s a natural fit within the Bengals’ offense, even if free agent acquisition Irv Smith Jr. stays healthy for the first time in his career. Mayer should be a plus blocker right away and can win consistently in an offense already bristling with passing weaponry.”
– Pro Football Focus analyst Sam Monson on putting Mayer to the Cincinnati Bengals in his mock draft
