Newsstand: Notre Dame lacrosse takes home three ACC weekly honors
After Notre Dame women’s lacrosse shocked No. 1 Northwestern on Friday, two players earned individual hardware. Graduate student attack Jackie Wolak won Atlantic Coast Conference offensive player of the week and senior defender Keelin Schlageter won ACC defensive player of the week for their performances in a 14-10 Irish win.
Schlageter scored the game-tying goal against Northwestern after the Wildcats led 10-9 in the fourth quarter. Twenty-nine seconds later, Wolak scored the eventual game-winner. Wolak totaled 4 goals and 2 assists in the win, while Schlageter added 4 caused turnovers.
Both stars also played well in Notre Dame’s 25-3 demolition of Butler on Sunday, as Wolak scored 2 goals and Schlageter scored 1.
The Irish improved to 4-0 over the weekend, rising to No. 2 in the national rankings behind only Boston College. A home game against Syracuse at noon ET on Saturday is up next.
On the men’s side, graduate student attackman Pat Kavanagh shared ACC offensive player of the week with Virginia graduate student attackman Payton Cormier. Kavanagh totaled 12 points — 2 goals and 10 assists — as the Irish scored more goals in a two-game stretch than they ever had in program history (46).

Notre Dame blew out Cleveland State 25-3 and Marquette 21-8 on Wednesday and Sunday, respectively, to start its season 2-0. The Irish remain No. 1 in the nation as they look to defend their national championship, and they’re back in action at 2 p.m. Sunday against Georgetown in South Bend.
