Newsstand: Notre Dame LB Jack Kiser named Academic All-American
While he practiced for the Senior Bowl on Monday in Mobile, Ala., Notre Dame linebacker Jack Kiser added another off-field honor to his already impressive resume.
Kiser was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America first team, the Irish announced Monday. He’s one of 25 selections, as well as the 38th Notre Dame player to earn the honor. Fellow linebacker JD Bertrand did the same last season.
The Irish listed Kiser’s many academic and community honors this season in a team press release.
“Kiser, a team captain, was a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy and the Freddie Solomon Community Spirit Award, and was named to the 2024 AFCA Allstate Good Works Team,” the release said. “He earned Notre Dame’s team award for the program Man of the Year.”
According to the release, Kiser earned a 3.82 undergraduate GPA with a degree in business analytics. His graduate GPA with a master’s degree in accountancy was even better, sitting at a near-perfect 3.97.

This would certainly be one of the first-round matchups of all time.
Quote of the day
“The Irish shouldn’t fall far, with either Steve Angeli or touted redshirt freshman CJ Carr taking over at quarterback for Riley Leonard. The defense loses a bunch of key veterans, but first- and second-year players such as Leonard Moore, Adon Shuler, defensive end Bryce Young and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa are poised to take over. The schedule is not light; Notre Dame opens at Miami, hosts Texas A&M the following week and visits Arkansas before the end of September.”
