According to ESPN’s FPI, Notre Dame has the best odds to go undefeated for the 2024 season. But actually winning the College Football Playoff? That seems to be a different story per another source.

The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy tweeted Monday morning the 26 teams with the best odds to win the College Football Playoff. And the teams at the top shouldn’t surprise. Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon and Alabama were at the top, respectively.

Ole Miss and LSU follow that group, and after that is a trio with the same odds of 25/1 — a group that consists of Florida State, Notre Dame and Penn State.

Two teams on the Irish’s 2024 schedule appeared on the list — the Seminoles and the USC Trojans. Lincoln Riley’s team has 60/1 odds per McMurphy’s tweet.

So much of Notre Dame’s national title hopes rides on Week 1 when Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish head to College Station to battle Texas A&M. Notre Dame’s playoff chances wouldn’t end with a loss to the Aggies; a win would give the Irish a major boost.

Currently, Texas A&M is a 1.5 point favorite in the contest according to FanDuel. The over/under points total is set at 48.5.

“He was like, ‘I know you’re a big recruit with a lot of offers as of right now, and a lot of schools are going to be talking about football. But he was talking about how there are 8,000 students in the school, and there it is more than football. After football, you’re going to have good academics.”
