Newsstand: What Manti Te’o said about Notre Dame on ‘Wake up the Echoes’ podcast
On Notre Dame’s “Wake up the Echoes” podcast this week, host Tony Simeone and guest host/athletics director Jack Swarbrick welcomed Irish legend Manti Te’o for a lengthy interview. Among other topics, Te’o discussed his feelings toward his alma mater.
“Notre Dame will always be home to me,” Te’o said. “What has Notre Dame done for me? Notre Dame has done everything for me and more.”
Te’o, a linebacker from Honolulu (Hawai’i) Punahou, is one of the most prolific players in Fighting Irish football history. He compiling 437 tackles, 34 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in four seasons, and as a senior in 2012, he picked off 7 passes and finished 303 voting points shy of the Heisman Trophy.
After that season, Te’o’s personal life came under fire as the world discovered he was the victim of a catfishing scheme. On “Wake up the Echoes,” he continued lauding Notre Dame its support as the scandal turned many against him.

Quote of the day
“He wants specifics. He wants details. He wants absolutes, which at this point I can’t really give him 100 percent of the time nor can I any of the other players on offense. But he’s somebody that loves the game and you can tell by talking to him that it’s important to him to know everything he needs to know about what he’s going to be out there doing.”
