Notre Dame among top-10 most in-demand college football programs in 2022
If you want to get out to a Notre Dame football game in Marcus Freeman’s first season as a head coach, it’s going to cost you. On Friday, Stubhub released a 2022 College Football Preview, which showed the Irish at No. 6 on a list of the top in-demand college football programs this year.
Given Notre Dame’s brand recognition, recent success on the gridiron — the Irish have posted five 10-win seasons in a row for the first time in program history — and the fact that there are multiple marquee games on the slate, a sixth-place ranking isn’t too surprising. Notre Dame was No. 5 in 2021. Alabama lead the list last year, but it’s Ohio State on top this season.
Obviously, Notre Dame is not in a conference in football. But StubHub released breakdowns by conference as well, and the SEC tops the charts. The Big Ten follows behind, then the Big 12, ACC and Pac-12 bring up the rear, in that order. In total, demand for this fall’s games on StubHub is outpacing ticket sales ahead of the 2019 season by more than 10 percent.

According to the ticket company’s website, the get-in price as of Aug. 14 for the clash between the Irish and the Buckeyes is just over $400. The game will be the primetime ABC showing over Labor Day Weekend, and ESPN’s College GameDay will be on-site on Saturday morning.
The cheapest tickets for Clemson-Notre Dame are hovering around $250, per StubHub. Timing and a more national matchup are the likely contributing factors driving down the cost. But if both teams are highly ranked come late October, that won’t be a cheap ticket at all.
