Pat Connaughton’s efficient night wasn’t nearly enough for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The former Notre Dame guard scored 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting Tuesday night in a 109-86 Bucks loss to the Boston Celtics, which tied their Eastern Conference semifinal series at 1-1. It was his third double-figure scoring outing in seven postseason games this year. He is averaging 9.0 points per game in the playoffs, shooting 47 percent overall and 37.8 percent on three-pointers.

Connaughton and the reigning NBA champion Bucks are the East’s No. 3 seed and defeated the No. 6 Chicago Bulls in five games in their first-round series. Game 3 against the Celtics is Saturday in Milwaukee.

Connaughton averaged 9.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 65 regular-season games (19 starts), shooting 45.8 percent from the floor and 39.5 percent from three-point range. He is in his seventh NBA season and fourth with the Bucks.
