Former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder has taken a new coaching role for the 2023 season. This newest job, though, is actually an old one.

VanGorder is now the defensive coordinator at Gulf Shores (Ala.) High School for former Louisiana head coach Mark Hudspeth, according to a report from Football Scoop Thursday. He also held that role in 2021. He was on Hudspeth’s first staff at Gulf Shores for one season before leaving to be an assistant at national prep power Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage.

It’s the seventh change VanGorder has made since his dismissal from Notre Dame during the 2016 season. Before the first Gulf Shores stint, he was a defensive analyst at Georgia in 2017, Louisville’s defensive coordinator in 2018 and Bowling Green’s defensive coordinator from 2019-20.
