Bowl projections a few months from when the games actually place are always interesting, because on one hand, they’re futile as it’s impossible to accurate project so far out, but on the other hand, it gives a look at where a team like Notre Dame’s end of the season could look like if things continue on the current trajectory.

The Fighting Irish are off to a 1-2 start with a tough schedule ahead of them, but the four bowl projections we found Monday all have Marcus Freeman making a bowl game, which is important to note.

The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy has the Irish playing in the Cheez-It Bowl in Orlando, Fla. Dec. 29 against the Texas Longhorns.

Both Jerry Palm of CBS Sports and ESPN’s Mark Schlabach project Notre Dame to play in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Dec. 30 in Jacksonville, Fla against the Florida Gators.

Quote of the day

“First, you have to get there. To talk about misses, you have to say we’re getting good pressure. Now, how do we finish it? How do you finish the play. That’s something that’s a lot easier said than done when you’re going 1,000 miles an hour.

“When you look at [cornerback Clarence Lewis’] play, there’s a technique to it. Bend to take away the cutback for a run, and if the quarterback goes past you, go to his upfield shoulder. All those different things we can work technically to improve that, but it’s hard when you’re running 20 miles per hour as fast as you can at somebody, he makes a move and you try to make the play. We have to continue to work at it.”
