Notre Dame football injury report: All-America DL Howard Cross III, Devyn Ford updates
On Monday, the Notre Dame football communications team released its pregame injury report ahead of Saturday’s Week 13 game against Army. Graduate students defensive lineman Howard Cross III and running back Devyn Ford are both questionable. Neither Cross or Ford played last Saturday against Virgina.
During his Monday news conference, coach Marcus Freeman said, “We’ll see how he progresses as we move forward,” regarding Cross, who has a left ankle injury. Freeman said Ford is “trending in the right direction.” He has a right groin injury.
While an official update was not provided, Notre Dame senior Jason Onye remains out with a personal matter. He has not been listed on the team’s depth chart.
“He’s just taking some personal time right now to get some things that he needs,” Freeman said Nov. 4. “So, if there’s a chance for him to return, we would love to have him back. But right now, we just got to support Jason getting the help he needs for Jason.”
Onye did not play against Stanford, Georgia Tech, Navy, Florida State or Virginia. Before stepping away from the team, he had 7 tackles (4 solo), 1.5 for loss, 1.5 sacks and 1 pass breakup in five games.
Although CJ Carr was not listed on the official pregame injury report, Freeman said the freshman quarteback is furthering his throwing progresson after injuring his right elbow in practice earlier this season.
