Jeremiyah Love injury update: Star Notre Dame RB ruled out for rest of USC game
The Notre Dame football program will be without its season leading rusher for the remainder of the USC game. During the third quarter of Saturday’s game, CBS Sports revealed that Fighting Irish sophomore running back Jeremiyah Love is out for the rest of the game with a knee injury.
On Notre Dame’s second drive of the third quarter, Love caught a 17-yard pass from quarterback Riley Leonard. After the play, he came up gimpy, limped off the field and went to the medical tent.
Before the injury, Love had 13 carries for 99 yards and 1 touchdown.
“Jeremiyah Love comes out of the injury tent with a wrap on his right leg,” Blue & Gold beat reporter Tyler Horka posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) about five minutes later. He’s testing his mobility on the Notre Dame sideline.
“Now having a chat with head coach Marcus Freeman. Seems like he’s going to try to get back into the game.”

About five minutes later, Horka added: “It doesn’t look like Jeremiyah Love will come back into this game. Notre Dame will need to hang on to win without its best player.”
CBS Sports sideline reporter Jenny Dell reported at the start of the fourth quarter that Love would be out for the remainder of the game.

Entering the game, Love led the Irish in rushing with 850 yards and 14 touchdowns on 121 attempts (7.0 yards per carry). He’s also added 19 catches for 168 yards and 2 scores.
Love opened up the Irish scoring with 2:28 left in the first quarter by punching it into the end zone from 1-yard out. That touchdown had some historical impact for Notre Dame. By scoring on the ground against the Trojans, Love has set the program record for consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. He broke Wayne Bullock’s school record of 11 games (1973-74).
With Love out, the Irish leaned on Jadarain Price. The junior runnning back finished with a team-high 111 yards and 1 touchdown on 12 carries.
Notre Dame ended up finishing with 422 yards (244 rushing) to beat USC 49-35. With the win, the Irish have punched their ticket to the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff. Their opponent will be revealed during the final CFP Rankings reveal on Sunday, Dec. 8.
